Endowment Fund Holders

Agency/Synagogue Endowment Funds



B’nai B’rith has two endowment funds at the Jewish Community Foundation.  The B'nai B'rith Endowment Fund and a Scholarship Fund.  The endowment fund will help to ensure that B’nai B’rith can continue its ongoing community service work.  The Scholarship Fund has been established to provide scholarships and awards on annual basis.



The Kollel is a traditional Jewish yeshiva-style learning center for adults and teenagers, offering ongoing classes in Kabbala, Talmud, Torah, Jewish philosophy and law. It is built on a foundation of openness and non-judgement, welcoming individuals of all Jewish affiliations.

Since 1932, the Beth Israel synagogue has provided its membership a place for spiritual growth, Jewish education, and social action. It is committed to being an open, welcoming environment for new and sustaining membership, and offers an accessible building and a caring community. The Beth Israel Endowment Fund will ensure that Beth Israel can continue to offer the community a full complement of synagogue services and a creative array of programs and education.

JCCGV, one of the largest community centres in North America, provides educational, cultural, recreational, rehabilitative and social services programs and services to tens of thousands of members and non-members. Gifts to the JCCGV Endowment Fund are truly an investment in the future of the Centre. Named endowment fund dedication opportunities are available for a wide variety of program and service support and currently all endowment contributions will be Matched, dollar for dollar, by the Weinberg Foundation of Baltimore.

Building a picture of Jewish life in Vancouver frorn 1850 to the present
Established more than 25 years ago, the JHS celebrates Jewish life in B.C. through archival recording in print and photographs. The Society archives now hold more than 40,000 photographs, the documents of many long standing community organizations, and a library of 250 oral history interviews. The Jewish Historical Society Endowment Fund will provide a legacy fund to ensure that history will continue to be documented and catalogued so that future generations can take pride in the past of our community.


Established in 1985 to provide social, recreational and health services to frail or disabled adults in a safe, supportive environment, L'Chaim improves the quality of life through a caring and stimulating group experience for those who might otherwise be isolated or confined to their homes.

Jewish Information Referral and Welcome Service - Your door to the community
As an information service, Shalom Vancouver serves the whole community, and its volunteers answer queries related to all matters touching on Jewish concerns. As well, Shalom Vancouver helps new immigrants and newcomers to our city integrate comfortably into the community. Since its inception 10 years ago, it has served over 7000 newcomers. The Shalom Vancouver Endowment Fund was established with a most generous gift from Judi & Len Libin, and their leadership inspired others to support the fund.

Faith and Humanity
NCJW is about filling unmet needs in the Jewish community and beyond by striving to improve the quality of life for women, children and families. NCJW has been a co-founder or has established key services in our community: Shalom Vancouver, the STAR volunteer registry, Kosher Meals-on-Wheels, the Mobile Hearing Screening Project and Jewish Women Against Domestic Violence. Income from the NCJW Endowment Fund will ensure that their volunteers and the programs they initiate will always make a difference in our community.

Advocacy, Representation and Defence
Established in 1934, CJC, Pacific Region is a regional branch of Canadian Jewish Congress, and carries out national initiatives at a regional level acting as an official representative organization of British Columbia Jewry on questions of public policy. CJC, Pacific Region advocates on all issues of concern to B.C. Jewry to all levels of government. The Canadian Jewish Congress, Pacific Region Endowment Fund has been established to ensure that there will be ongoing financial resources available to the organization as it advocates, defends and represents our community on priority issues.

When the VTT celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1998, the Alumni of Vancouver's first Jewish day school undertook to mark the occasion by establishing an endowment fund. The VTT has been providing the Greater Vancouver Jewish community with a half century of excellence in both secular and Jewish education, and the VTT Alumni Endowment Fund will continue to be built by those whose vision includes the continuation of this proud tradition.

Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre
The Vancouver Holocaust Centre Society for Education and Remembrance was founded in 1983 by survivors of the Holocaust.  The Centre’s mandate is to combat prejudice, racism and anti-Semitism by educating the public, especially students and teachers, about the events and implications of the Holocaust.  The Holocaust Centre Endowment Fund will provide financial support to carry out the Centre’s ongoing programs and educational initiatives.
