The Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Vancouver promotes
the values of Klal Israel, tikkun olam and tzedakah, and, through the
provision of planned giving opportunities, is committed to ensuring the
long-term financial stability and needs of our growing community.
The JCFGV is the central address for planned giving in the Jewish community
and manages over 200 separate funds worth approximately $23.5 million.
The JCFGV serves to link the past, the present and the future and is guided in its mission by the following quote from the Talmud:"And so do I plant for those who will come after me."Ta'anit, 23a.
The JCFGV is attuned to the needs and philanthropic wishes of its donors, and is dedicated to ensuring, in a compassionate and competent manner, that the donors' objectives are carried out.
The JCFGV operates under the mandate to receive capital gifts, invest them prudently, and distribute the annual income, in accordance with the wishes of the donors, back to the local community, as well as to national, Israeli and worldwide Jewish causes.
For donors, JCFGV offers an array of philanthropic options that will build permanent financial resources for our community and at the same time will fulfill their tax and estate planning objectives.
Agencies, congregations and organizations turn to the Foundation for the management and investment of their endowment funds and in the planning and solicitation of endowment gifts. In addition, through the grant making process of the unrestricted, community funds, JCFGV serves as a financial resource to many of the not-for-profits in our community.
The Jewish Community Foundation is governed by a Board of 15 Trustees. Its work is primarily conducted through 5 standing committees, including: Development, Investment, Professional Advisory, Grant Distributions and Women's Endowment.
